I’ll start with the bad news…there is a major hurdle to candidates’ fundraising activities, namely that the donations are not tax-deductible, unlike those for federal and provincial campaigns. This can make it difficult for candidates with great potential and impactful ideas who aren't comfortable or experienced with fundraising to convey their message effectively.

However, here's the good news: your support can overcome this hurdle. There's tremendous value in you, the voter, actively supporting a candidate who has the skills, clear vision, and proven background to drive meaningful progress in Red Deer. By backing such a candidate, you help ensure our city benefits from strong leadership and thoughtful decision-making that prioritizes community growth, safety, economic opportunity, and fiscal responsibility.

Investing in a strong candidate is an investment in a strong Red Deer. Getting the word out to achieve targets and gather sufficient feedback to inform policy effectively is both time-consuming and financially challenging. It takes anywhere between $8,000 and $10,000 to run an effective and value-added campaign.
